Donkey Kong is a series of video games based on a gorilla of the same name. Its first release was an arcade game in 1981, which also featured the debut appearance by Mario, on whom the Super Mario Bros series would be based. Donkey Kong has two main titles and a number of other spin-offs, in addition to featuring regularly in Super Mario Bros games.
